I've tried using the Nero 5.5.90 demo to encode MP3 files to MP3Pro files. I find the resulting MP3Pro file plays about 9% faster than the original MP3 file does.

Have you experienced this and have you found a way to correct the problem?

I've searched the Nero help files in the program and also the help and FAQ files at their site. No mention of this is found.

I've sent the question to their email address but so far have had no response.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Holden

I don't use Nero For MP3 Files Only When Burning Software To A Disk.

if this seems to be a a problem, let nero know.

Thats Why I Get Pissed When They Say J River Support Sucks Or Some Such Garbage. I Think J River Does More Than Most To Support There Users. And Sometimes A Semi-Real Time Chat With Someone From JRiver Thru The Forum.

You Will Not Get That From The Others.

King Sparta and NY40Male, thanks for your responses. There's no doubt that JRiver's support is exemplary, putting most of the others to shame.

I had actually considered registering Nero, and may yet, but if I get no response then I'll just forget it.

My main interest in Nero had been to be able to use MP3Pro which can cut the size of audio files down by half with no loss in quality - so they say. Unlike you, King, I only have two hard drives - a 40gig and a 20gig which are almost full. I know larger drives may be the answer, but I'm physically unable to put in a new drive and then transfer from the old to the new.

You miss the point
If you rip cds to mp3 pro ok
But if you rip mp3 to mp3 pro,you get a smaller mp3,but not of the quality of mp3.
assuming that there is any....

this has been checked out, and there is a loss, but it depends on a some things.

1. were your ear plugs in
2. could you hear in the first place
3. did the user really know what a MP3 file was.

Hay, i can't hear but if it cuts out sound what the human ear can hear then you will hear a dif. i think once you start taking out info that the human ear can hear you lose the fullness in the orginal sound.

Maxtor has some nice USB drives that all you need to do is plug them in to the USB port.

Zeville

That's something I didn't know. I really appreciate the information. Will save me from a lot of work and also save me from a lot of loss of quality.

Good man!

King Sparta

I'll look into a Maxtor hard drive. One of the great things about Interact is the source of information available from so many for the benefit of so many others.

Much obliged to you both.

King Sparta

I now have the Maxtor 40gb external drive connected and working. The solution to running out of hard drive space was so much easier than I had thought it would be.

Thanks once again.

When my 10Gig HD starts getting full of MP3's, I burn them onto CD-R's and use a program called MPEG Audio Collection (MAC) for cataloging the songs. Works good for me. It is a bit more convienient however, to have them on a HD if you want to set up playlists. I use Lame 3.92 at 160, stereo, constant bit rate, high quality and they sound great even with head phones.

I am using Nero OEM version 5.0.
I think it is good. It won't force you to buy mp3pro in Nero 5.0. I rip CD unlimitedly.

But I don't normally use Nero to rip CDs. I use MJ8.0 or CDex. But now I don't even use CDex, because I have formatted my harddrive and reinstalled windows. I don't want to install too many software. I want my computer to be more "clean". MJ does all so I don't need other mp3 tools now.

But I do want to comment that the Reverb function of Media Editor in MJ almost doesn't work. I can't notice any difference using that function. So I use winamp DSP under Media Editor to edit my tunes.
