Did you install MC14?  What happens?  Some details would help.

That should work.  Something is preventing the browser window from opening.  A pop-up blocker?

Try opening an IE window first.

I've turned off IE's popup blocker, I've made it my default browser, but still no luck.  I then tried the same thing with firefox,  with no success.
Even when I select to restore license from internet it does not open IE.  It does on the other hand open the support forum from the help menu.

It's Vista, so there could be some UAC mysteries.

I don't know what the problem is, but let me think about it.

Thanks for trying.  I'm sorry it isn't working.

Windows can say anything.  It isn't always true.

Do you have any kind of parental control software or web filtering software running?  Parental control software can cause strange side-effects in software that tries to launch web content.

Anti-virus and similar security software can also cause strange side-effects.

Thank you, Frobozz for the suggestion, but I disabled ESET NOD32 and the buy button did not open IE.

Another option to try would be to launch MC14 with administrator privileges.

Right-click on the shortcut that launches MC14.  Select "Run as administrator".  Then try doing the purchase upgrade while MC14 has administrator privileges.

Windows should say so if it needs administrative privileges.  Still, it's worth a try.

dynamic, by private message said this:

the upgrade worked from another machine running vista 32.  i am running 64 bit on my home machine, maybe that had something to do with the issue.  both machines run the same configuration in terms of services running and virus scan.  i'm also using IE 8 on the second machine vs. IE7 on my home machine.

No problems with Vista 64 bit.  It's very commonly used.
