Multiple Instances [solved]
« on: September 09, 2009, 09:30:05 am »

Ok here is my problem.

If I run MC14 on my logon then switch users and log on to my wifes a/c MC will not run as it is open on my login. I tried a work round by turning on the option to "allow multiple instances to run at one time" (General/Advanced).
This seemed to work but when I close MC on my login and reopen it this feature has unchecked itself.

Also  closing MC on my logon will sometimes still not let me open MC on my wifes logon - I am assuming that is because i still have library server and upnp servers running which do not stop running when MC is closed.

I am running the latest  version

I don't understand why the option would clear itself.

It's stored here in the registry (use regedit.exe to view):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 14\Properties\General - Allow Multiple Instances

Running multiple instances can get a little confusing if you're doing advanced things like scheduling, serving, or recording since both instances may try to do the same work.

It may be a problem with my pc then as I have been having other issues with start up options and services.

I will try it on my second pc and see if it works.

Thanks

After a lot of investigation I have solved the problem.

I had a malware file on my system:  C:\Users\Barry\AppData\Roaming\NP.sys (Malware.Trace)

Found it with a free software called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware which removed it and solved all the prob I have had.
