What do other people experience as their channel change time?  With or without time-shifting enabled?

I see about a 3 second delay with time-shifting enabled and am curious if other people notice the same delay.

Yep, 2 or 3 seconds with TS enabled and about 1 second (or less) without. I think that's pretty normal using modern hardware.

Definitely a big disappointment.  Those types of delays and different behavior constantly remind users they're better and worse off than standard set top boxes.

It's limited by the hardware, and in your case, by the other software you need to make it work.  If your other software has a buffer, try reducing it.

Why is 3 seconds a big deal?

Does any particular hardware not produce a delay?  With time-shifting disabled there is an acceptable delay but who wants to run without time-shifting always enabled?

3-seconds is a lifetime when you're just flipping through 17 channels and I know others get a lot more OTA channels than us.

You can delete channels you don't use.  Lots of channels are duplicates (SD and HD).

You can also set favorites channels.

You can use the numbers on a remote to go directly to a channel.

The EPG is a better way to navigate than flipping channels.

Nice list of reasons.  I may be able to make this work.

Another option would be to leave time-shifting off when flipping channels and after a delay (5 - 15 seconds), enable time-shifting.  OR, what about saving the stream in the background but not playing it, then just switching to playing it after the 15 seconds are up.

I explain it by saying it's the timeshifting recording the first few seconds. No more questions

That's all fine and good but TiVo doesn't have the delay and it offers the exact same time-shifting functionality.  I'm just hoping the delay can be decreased gradually through future MC updates.
