Crashing with 8.0.318
« on: July 03, 2002, 01:27:52 pm »

Same old story - It was running fine with 8.0.293 and I just upgraded and now it won't stop crashing.  I am including MJ System Info as well as a copy of the DrWatson output from Windows 2000.  Not sure that you need this all, but I figured why not be thorough!

Basically, I was just messing around with MJ.  No music playing.  I was trying to get cover art imported for some existing MP3's when it first crashed.  Then after rebooting, opened MJ and was just rooting around and it crashed again.  I am going to play a bit more and see if it does it again.  One more time and I am going to load the previous version.

We think MJ is now quite stable and that the remaining stability problems are probably not MJ.  It could be an install problem.  Please take a look at this thread:

That discussion seems to revolve around the installation of MJ.  I am not having problems with installing it.  In fact, the installation was smooth.

As I mentioned, I will keep poking around and see if I can get it to do it again.  I am debating whether to upgrade this peticular system to Windows XP or leave it at Win2k.  I have a WinXP system that has been rather smoothly for work, how does MJ seems to handle XP?

Thanks!

A lot of it was written on XP.

Please try the tips in that thread and then re-install MJ.  Something is flawed in your install or your OS.

I have been able to re-create the problem three (3) times since my last message.  I went and deleted my IE Temp data as the message suggested.  I don't understand what that has to do with the cover art, but it was worth the attempt.  The problem arises when I get a cover art for an album in my database.  It captures it, but when I click SAVE you can tell it is about to crash.  And within a minute or two it does.  The reason I say you can tell is that the GET button never redraws after clicking on SAVE.

Anyway, I will go ahead and delete my MJ installation and re-install it.

I will report back later...
