send-to-device conversion process in MJ 8
« on: July 02, 2002, 06:43:14 am »

when performing format conversion as part of sending to a device, is there a reason why all the temporary wav files aren't deleted until the end of the process, as with normal format conversion? i recently tried to convert and send around 160 songs to my nex ii. however, the process failed because all the temporary wav files filled up the hard drive. there is also a bug here because when the hard drive got full, MJ returned a strange error with symbols instead of writing and then it just got stuck on the progress window without any way to close it.

also, although tags are done correctly in normal format conversion, they aren't in the send-to-device process. MJ just puts the filename as the song name.

apollumi,

Thanks for the posts. The next build of MJ will include the deletion of converted wav files after each individual conversion. This should help fix your problem. The actual converted files must all be sent in one batch, so those must all wait to be sent until they are deleted. There is no need to keep the intermediate .wav files during this process.

In regards to the tag information, the ability to read the tag information is currently embedded in MJ and is not part of the Plug-in architecture. You raise a good point and we will try to create a separate way to handle reading tag info for removable drives.

Thanks.

apollumi,

The ability to display tag information for removables will be part of a bigger project that we will include in version 9.
