Visualizations problem
« on: March 15, 2010, 10:01:36 pm »

Hi everybody. I am a grateful user of MC from Russia and this is my first post here. First, I'd like to thank the MC team for their incredible work and wish you guys all the best in your life. Now, after searching the forum and the wiki I have a question to ask here. I'm using JRMC14 on W7. The video adapter is ATI Radeon 4300 with the latest ATI Catalyst installed. I have recently upgraded my hardware and installed W7. My PC now has plenty of resources, and I decided to start actively using visualizations for music playback (I have purchased and used G-Force before but it wouldn't perform well on my old PC under Windows XP, as well as the standard visuals, but that was OK as the machine was really slow). Now I'm playing music with the standard built-in visuals and they periodically (every, say, 20-30 seconds) freeze for a second or two, then resume with the normal speed. I have tried to play with video adapter settings and display resolutions, as well as to switch off the Aero theme on W7, as it was suggested in the Weird Problems topic, but it didn't help. The visuals behavior is all the same both with hi-perf and hi-quality global video setups, and this has to do with all of the built-in visuals, be it 3D, or 2D. I haven't tried G-Force under the current system yet. As for the "regular" video playback (DVD, HD video, avi, etc.), it works just fine. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for feedback and I'm sorry if I have overlooked the relevant discussion somewhere around.

P.S. Edited for minor typos and to add that 99% of my music is FLAC, if this info is useful.

I've seen this too, using G-Force, an nvidia GF8800GTX latest MCs and windows seven.

If I restart MC, the problem goes away, but only for a short while.
I've never gotten around to trouble shooting the problem, but it's on my list of things to do.
