Saving/Exporting/Importing SmartLists?
« on: September 11, 2010, 07:29:26 pm »

I recently upgraded from JRMC14 to V15.  As has happened with previous upgrades my saved smartlists were no longer available and had to be recreated from scratch.  I have a large number of SmartLists and it's a very time consuming task to recreate them all.

Is there a way to save or export them to prevent this from happening?

Thanks - Steve

In Media Center 14, make a library backup.

In Media Center 15, restore the backup.  You can optionally restore all your user settings as well.

The program automatically makes library backups in the application data folder, but it's a good habit to also occasionally make one on your backup drive.

Another little tip is that you can configure the location of automatic library backups in Options > File Location.

I always point to the backup drive I keep in my system.  That way, if my OS chunks, it's one less headache.
