The pages themselves should already look pretty good.

If you install TCPMP or other media player that can stream MP3, you can play using WebPlay now.

thanks for reply Matt.. yeah on my gf's iphone when she goes to webplay or webremote there is no ability to scroll left or right its like an app meaning uses up her whole screen(it's sized properly. you can see\read jriver

on my webplay on htc hd2 its huge.. the y on webplay is barelly seen..well here...

if i goto settings and take zoom down to 60% which is the lowest available, then the whole webplay shows up with minimum side scroll. but then webpages texts are Very small\impossible to read

As posted previously

1) WebPlay & Winmo = No Go for me.  I know Matt said a couple of weeks ago there would be a WebPlay/Winmo update but FYI the last week or so has has been completely broken.  Webplay will push out an ASX playlist but it will not play in either CorePlayer ("File not found!\Mu (FFFFFFF8)) or WMP (Can not play the file....) regardless of the file contents.

2) Formating = The webpage looks good in Opera 10 but as shown by xtacbyme, the page being rendered is about double the width of the physical screen (they display slightly differently in IE and Opera 10)

Let me know if you want screenshots or other info.

If you're up to it, you could try helping edit the HTML template to get it working.

If you look at the pages, they have this in their header:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;" />

This works well with an iPhone and Android to make the page the width of the device.  I would have expected it to work with WinMo as well.

Thanks for any help.

Matt: - I had a look yeasterday and tried guessing some variables (but I was just guessing).  Any idea what to play with (I was going to reinstall an older version of MC when the screen width = page width and see what was different)

Also, with WebPlay:
1) I can play a single MP3 just fine (copies it down)
2) I can control and playback both locally and remotly using PocketPlayer
3) it's just the contents of the ASX playlists will not play in eithr WMP, Core, or Pocket Player.  The following is a sample ASX file that will not play from my WinMo (but will play from the desktop).  Is it possible it has something to do with my library being all in UNC?

Code: [Select]
<ASX VERSION="3.0">

xtacbyme - Do you still have core player installed?  Can you open and play the ASX list from WinMedPlayer?

Looks like there has been a slight format change in the ASX.  I went back to V36 and the following are what the files looked like back then
Code: [Select]
<ASX VERSION="3.0"><TITLE>Playlist</TITLE>
<ENTRY><REF HREF="http://192.168.1.100:52199/WebPlay/MCWS/v1/File/GetFile?File=29744&ConversionProfile=iPhone" /></ENTRY>

Re: Webremote- Webplay - For WINDOWS MOBILE
« Reply #9 on: June 11, 2010, 09:01:10 pm »

Found out the problem and fix for ASX and CorePlayer.  Background
1. MC currently stuff MP3 into an ASX Container so it will not play in Windows Media Player (you can only have WMA/WMA etc in a ASX container), hence
2. Changed the file association for ASX to Coreplayer but the paramater it was passing was %1 not "%1" now it plays fine  (coreplayer was complaining it could not find the ASX file itself) ;D

Couple of comments in the WinMo space.
1) All WinMo devices have Windows Media Player and as we know it will only except streaming playlists for WMA/WMA etc in the ASX container and this is hence the ideal out of the box solution, however;
2) If we are not able to transcode to WMA elegantly on the fly and instead have to rely on transcode to MP3 for Webplay then there is no need to ASX containers at all - please just use m3u as the default for ASX is WMP and it will fail.

As it stands currently, WinMo users then need to get a new player, and then work out how to (correctly) , manually assign the file associate ASX to this player (needs another 3rd party program like Total Commander.

Thanks
Nathan

Matt - any more on getting WebPlay to work on the WinMo Platform with WMP (eg ASX playlists with WMA content)?

The other option I've found is to run Android on the HD2, then Gizmo but....a bit extreme but it does work! (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735532)

Thanks

The link above is not an ROM as such, as you keep WinMo.  You put the Andriod build on your SD Card (in a folder called Andriod) and just run it like a prog.  It will drop WinMo, Run Andriod, then after you shut down Andriod, WinMo will startup next time you boot.

This way you play with Andriod without trashing the WinMo setup.

It's not that exciting IMHO ... I still prefer WinMo (a "real mans" OS :) )  but it is worth having a play, downloading Gizmo etc

Android wins over Apple, but where is WinMo?

Looks like WM6.5 is now the "old mans" not "real mans" OS - Lastest figures have WinMo down to 2.8% market share and Android kicking Apple OS down to 3rd place.  Just another sign I'm getting old I recon!
