The file is an avi, what source filter should I list?
I have all the other settings sorted.
I'm going to give you a rule of thumb...
It is generally best to leave the settings under
Tools -> Options -> Video -> Decoders, Renderers, etc -> Playback Method set to Auto as much as is possible. These settings are useful for
overriding the default windows settings (if you want MC to act differently than other players on your system). However, in most cases, you want to set up your filters to be correct automatically via the normal Windows processes, and then MC will "Just Work". In other words, generally don't mess with them unless you already know what to pick.
If you can't get it to work right with it it set to "Full Auto", then select J River video Engine (directshow) and then still leave as much set to auto is possible in there. It can be useful to do this to pick a Video Renderer, and sometimes an Other Filter or two, but usually the Source Filter will be picked correctly by the system.
CCCP should work right with everything set to Auto, certainly for MPEG-4 ASP (XviD). If it doesn't, then something is probably wrong with your filter installations, not any setting in MC.
