Chirping on MP3 playback
« on: April 05, 2003, 03:30:05 pm »

I am using MJ8 (8.0.394) on my whole house audio server and noticed that once in a while the music will chirp. This is a quick (<1 second) high pitched squeak. It doesn't do this on other players and it appears to be random. i.e. I can't reproduce it on the same song in the same place. However it is happening frequently enough to be more than annoying.

Is this a known bug in MJ8? Is there a fix? Is this also in MC9?

My Audiotron also had this problem when playing back high bit rate VBR MP3 files and it was a bug in their firmware which was updated and fixed. Is this a similar problem?

Hmmmmm!!

I have noticed the same problem using both ver8 and ver9 which is very sad.....  :-[ i was put in touch with this s/w as am looking for the very features included in this package for entertianment system am building for house.. liked the fact can use IR as want to control it via philips pronto, liked db functioality and fact u can use with tv card BUT am put off by this very problem!!!

what i can add is that am running under XP pro on a asus mobo with nForce chipset and built in mp3 hardware have XP2600+ shed loadsa mem ata133 hard drive and audigy plat soundcard so that considered and the fact as others have mentioned i dont get prob using mediaplayer, winamp or others can only conclude prob is software dependent..........

If anyone can prove otherwise or suggest a fix would be more then  :D

Chirping can be related to:

sound card drivers
via chipset latency problems
playback settings
try wave out vs. direct sound in MC

WEELLL!
Have been playing with settings to see if i could get rid of glitches in play back!!

I have been victorious  :D

setting output to direct o/p and making a slight adjustment to slider controlling the priority they have gone......

strange thing tho it seemed i had to close down and restart it for changes to take effect.....   is this right  ?
