Keyboard Remote Control with AndroidApp
« on: November 15, 2010, 04:02:30 pm »

Hi there,

I have an android phone. I can control theaterview with an app called gpad. (You need to install the gpad server on the HTPC)  It can send keyboardcommands to my htpc, thus acts very much like a normal remote. Except for one thing
I can learn a command in de Remote Control part of Options. (Control+ALT+M = music) But that only works with an attached keyboard. It doesn't work with a remote desktop or with the android app.
Is there a way to jump to playlist, playing now, music, images, video or tv with a keyboard shortcut that works with a remote derver like VNC or with the gpad app.
By the way: there are a lot of android (and probably iphone) apps that can simulate keyboard and mouse control by Wifi. It would be nice to control the HTPC completely that way

You might try Gizmote, JRiver's own solution to this problem.

It's still under development, but already useful.

I don't think this is the "solution". With Gizmo i can't control Theaterview. What i want is to sit behind my TV and control everything as if i was using a normal remote.
It works good so far. All the build-in Keyboard Shortcuts in MC work with the gpad app. Only a direct "jump" to an specific item (music, images,etc...) is not possible

Gizmo plays on your phone.

Gizmote remote conrols from the couch.

You can jump to a Theater View view using MCC_THEATER_VIEW:

I only don't understand how to implement MCC_THEATER_VIEW command

With the command line, you use /MCC to issue an MCC command:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/The_Command_Line

You can also use the MCWS and control the server machine with a URL like:
http://address_of_library_server/MCWS/v1/Control/MCC?Command=xxx&Parameter=yyy

The commands are only useful in gpad (or similar).

Gizmote is not editable.
