Title says it all.

I'm catching the 24/96 bug and 24bit mode is not yet working with my player (and may never).   24/96 files only play when I burn a wav file to CD and play it through the CD transport tray.  But I'd love to hear a dithered version over wireless DLNA.

It would be great if, in general, a DSP could be added to data being served by MC in real time. This would negate a need to replicate the collections by applying DSP non-real time and unnecessarily taking up disk space.

(Three years from now I'll be asking a similar question the other way around: can the iZotope upsampler be added as an MC DSP plugin to convert 16/44.1 to 24/96 in real time? Might as well ask it now.)

If you select "Always Convert" in your DLNA server audio options, a DSP will be inserted with the simplified options "volume leveling" and "sample rate". If you choose a sample rate other than "same as source" your source will be resampled to either 44.1k or 48k depending on your choice. The number of channels will remain the same if converting to L16 headerless wave, it will be reduced to 2 channel if you convert to mp3.

Thanks Bob.  But does it dither when going from 24bit to L16?   

(and if not, is there any other way to get dithering when decimating down to L16?)

The 24-bit to 16-bit conversion for DLNA is equivalent to the '16-bit' selection in DSP Studio > Output Format, not '16-bit (with dithering)'.

This may be configurable someday.

A better solution would be for the device to have proper 24-bit support, since no shaping of the final bit can be as good as real 24-bit support.
