New Vorbis Encoder Crashes MJ
« on: June 05, 2002, 11:28:18 am »

I noticed on the plugins page that there was a new Ogg Vorbis encoder plugin put up on Monday (June 3).

So I said YAY! and I downloaded, hoping that this would enable me to use MJ to encode Oggs with the current version of Ogg Vorbis (RC3, -infact RC4 isn't far away since there are already "pre RC4's" floating around).

But on trying to select it from the list of encoders in "Convert Files" MJ just Crashes.

I first noticed this with 8.0.289, but thought I'd try 8.0.291 to see if it still occured. -Yep.

I just checked this again with MJ 8.0.293 and the problem is still there.

Could someone please confirm or deny reproducability of this problem.

It is likely to simply be a bug with the plugin.

Ta,

Did you select Ogg Vorbis VBR?

I forgot to mention that it only crashes with the Vorbis VBR item, and not the other one.

Thanks

Yes.
but 8.0.293 also comes with a version listed as 2.0.40.

I am talking specifically about the one from the Encoder Plugins page.

Did you download and test this one, or just the one that comes with MJ8.0.293 ??

thanks

It happens to us too.  We'll get it fixed and posted sometime in the next few days.

Thanks.

Yep thanks Matt, it it fixed.

I don't mean to be a pest,  -but it still encodes usings libraries dated 17 Dec 2001.
This is libVorbis RC2.

The current release is RC3 (31/Dec/2001)

and "preRC4" (with new lowbitrate options for resampling and downmixing) is also on a few sites now (31/Jun/2002)

I downloaded the encoder plugins SDK and started to do some work on this myself, but right now I am really busy with some deadlines for my Honours Thesis.

-So I was just wonderong what is likely to appear from JRiver with regard to an updated version.

Thanks again
