Created a library of MP3 files and most of the MP3 tag fields are not loaded into MC16.
MP3 file has 23 fields, including COMPOSER and ALBUMARTIST, for example.  This is according to MP3Tag reading ID3v2.3.
MC16 database shows 7 fields limited to NAME, ARTIST, ALBUM, GENRE, TRACK #, BITRATE and DATE.
If I go to Tools-Options-Library & Folders I can see a tone of field names but no way to say to read them from the file tags.  It all seems hard-coded and non-functional.
What is one supposed to do to populate an MC16 database with correct Field values from Tags as simple as MP3?

MC supports the ID3v2.3 tag frames that are commonly used for "Composer" and "Album Artist". Inside the ID3v2.3 code the frames are TCOM (composer), and TPE2 & TXXX Album Artist (MC supports two common album artist mappings.) What are the other tags that seem to be missing? (Perhaps you could upload a small tagged MP3 sample file to some upload service and post a link.)

Here is the informal ID3v2.3 standard: http://www.id3.org/id3v2.3.0. MC does not support each and every tag that is described in that standard (I don't think any program does), but it certainly supports about all commonly used tags (and quite a few others).

Did you tag the file outside MC after it was imported to MC's database? The Auto Import feature may pick the changes, but it must be correctly set to do so. Also if the external tagger is set to preserve the original file modification date & time the auto importer will not recognize the file as changed. In any case you can always do "Library Tools > Update Library (from tags)" to reread the tags.

You are correct, of course.
The issue was that editing tags can only happen if those tags are selected for display in the columns.
