Hi guys,

I've finally switched to using MC for all my TV recording.  I have it recording to .ts and I then serve those via MC's DNLA server to my Samsung LN40C650.  This has all been working great so far, except for one issue: I have to remote desktop into my HTPC in the basement to delete the shows after I've watched them.

Is there some other way to handle this?  I don't think there's any way to delete over DNLA is there?  I guess you could add it to Gizmo somehow?

I don't think DLNA has any provisions for this.

If you use a Library Server Client (i.e. an HTPC), it would be possible.

There are some auto-delete rules for subscriptions that might help like "Only keep for 10 days", etc.

I guess you could add it to Gizmo somehow?

It might be a nice addition, at least for recorded television.  I'm not sure I want Gizmo to be able to delete my music files.

The issue with the "delete after x days" is that sometimes I get behind and I don't want MC to delete the files until I've watched them.  However, I might have watched them, but not my wife, or vice-versa, so even a "delete x days after watching" might not be safe...

I agree, this should only allow deleting recorded television.

Don't play counts of files update when served by MC server to DLNA/other devices?  Maybe there's an opportunity for automation around play count/play time.

Gizmo is (obviously) a different solution.
