Topic: How do I open up the Display Window in the lower left corner? (Read 2990 times)

It seems I used to see a "Display Window" heading in addition to the "Action Window" and "Tag" headings that I see now in the lower left corner of standard view. Did I somehow disable the "Display Window"?

Mine pops up if I play a song, but i don't see any way to select it manualy...

I think mine used to pop up as well, but now it is nowhere to be found.

Are you referring to the Image window? This would be seen when you click on the cover art in the Tag action window section. For a video, the video would start full screen by default, and if you hit Escape, it will minimize to a Display Window within the action window.

mine disappeared also a few versions back. had to start a video, go full screen and then sometimes it went to display, sometimes not. For some unknown reason it is now back full time??

I spoke too soon. I too have lost my display view again in the lower left corner. Not sure what I did, I have had the display detached, but no combination of Ctrl6 or Ctrl3 seems to help.

could I bump this again. How do I get the display window back to the lower left corner. Double click on full size video does not return the display to the lower left (as it normally does). The display simply disappears. Ctrl-3 brings it back to full screen.

From full screen mode (Ctrl-3), what does Escape do?

from full screen mode it takes me back to the main interface (same as ctrl+1) but it does not have the display window in the lower left corner. It only has the action window. Ctrl+3 from the display view does the same, i.e. ctrl-3 toggles full screen display to main interface.

~~This is a workaround until the programmers repair the access:~~

1. Go to Theater View > Playing Now

2. To the right of Playing Now you will see Info, List, Display View. Click on Display View then exit Theater View, you will then see the Display window in lower left corner. Unfortunately you have to do this each time you quit and restart MC.

EDIT: No workaround or repair is needed. Read what rick.ca and I later wrote.

thanks for the suggestion supersnake. But still no luck. My display view is full screen or not at all. The little view in the lower left never comes back. I installed .87 this morning, and still not there.

Anyone else?

If the display is active in Playing Now—even if that tab or view is not visible—it will not also show in that window.

Struct, forget my 'workaround' about going first to Playing Now.
No workaround is necessary.

Start playing some music while in Standard View.
If you do not see the 'little display window in the lower left corner' and you are at the "Playing Now/Here" location
then simply click on a different area in the left tree- keep the music playing.
See examples.

Supersnake, thanks very much for the pictures, I really appreciate the effort. I think I have done as you suggested, but for me, there is still no display view in the lower left corner

do i get to call this a bug? is there any set of commands I should try and a log that would help?

3. Playing Now is not active anywhere in the interface (visible or not).

If it is, then the Display window will be there, not in the lower left corner.

Correct. A detached display will "hide" it as well (though it does show the "click here to bring it back" text).

I don't have the display bar to click on, I think that is the problem.

Rick/Glynor,
When clicking on Playing Now Here, I get the display view in the main window at the top (or click here to bring it back if detached) as expected. But I can't get the display view to appear in the lower left corner as it normally did

You've got three Playing Now tabs open. The display is active in one of those. Close those tabs or in each one navigate away from Playing Now to something else. When the display has nowhere else to go, it will appear in the lower left corner.
