Music/files missing after import
« on: June 18, 2011, 10:04:22 pm »

Before upgrading to the full client, I want to know how to fully import my music.  When I imported my music initially I do not recall supplying any type of directory structure.  I just took the default I think.  Many albums (and artists) were missing.

Of course I have an iTunes library on another pc on the network.  What is the best way to ensure a complete import of just the one playlist that I want to import?

It even retrieved a few albums that I thought were deleted.  They were originally on my music room pc on an outboard hard drive and were never on my main pc.  I had copied iTunes off my main pc and messed around with it until I got it to work on the music room pc.  I would add some albums to my music room pc/iTunes but not to my main pc ... and vice versa.  Screwy, I know.

Thanks to everyone who has made it this far on my long post.

Import looks at your local PC, not any others on the network.

You could copy the files from the other PC, using Explorer.

Or you could mount the other PC as a drive, then import, then use MC's Library Tools/Move Copy Rename function to move them.  Check the "Directory" box and set rules for the move.
