Rutabaga And Turnip
« on: August 25, 2011, 02:54:44 pm »

Today was the first time I ever tasted a Rutabaga And Turnip.

I cooked them down with some Onion, Carrot, And Ground Beef With Beef Stock For A Dish That I Am Making.

I am surprised That I Actually Like The Taste Of Them.

I will Probably if in season use them more in dishes I cook.

I also bought a Mexican potato A "jícama" I have not cooked it or tasted it but I will in The next day or so.

Jicama! Tastes like mixture of a potato w/its starchy texture, more sweet, almost like some variety of radish w/out the bite.  Very mild.

Very nice in Julienne strips in salads, good w/vinaigrettes.  I've even had vegetarian tacos that were jicama-based.

Can you make french fries out of them?

I am not sure what I can make with them.
