Can't download library using server
« on: May 24, 2002, 10:39:13 am »

When I try to connect to my remote server, the client tries to download
the media library and fails with the message:

Failed to install packages.

More info: Failed to unzip file 'C:\TEMP\ tmp30.tmp'.

I've cleaned out the directory and checked that there is disk space available
(over 1GB).  The tmp30.tmp file appears to get deleted as soon as the
failure message appears so I can't grab it to try unzipping with an unzip
program.

Does MJ use it's own internal unzipper or is it expecting the system to
provide an unzip program.  If the later, which one?

Thanks for any help,
John

It has it's own unzip routines.  The only odd thing I can see about your setup is NT 4.0.  We don't see it much anymore.  Still, it should work.

Both sides need to be the same version of MJ.  Is it possible your server is older?

Hi, I would like to report the same problem here.

I am running XP on my home machine. This is the actual version:
Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.325
Install Path: C:\Programme\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: AMD Athlon 1005 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 523 MB, Free - 183 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1  (Build 2600)

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2600.0000
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
wnaspi32.dll: 2.0.1.50 , Nero Aspi Library, Copyright © 1999-2002 Ahead Software AG
Aspi32.sys: 4.71 (0001)

I start the server on the box and try to connect to 192.168.0.1. (Intranet), I see the download starting, but the transfer stops after about 4 KB and I get the following error:

---
Failed to install package
More Info: Failed to unzip file 'C:\TMP\System™pA5.tmp
---

The server shows the following version:
Media Server Version 1.0.134
Protocol Version 0.9

Any hint would be appreciated.
Thanks
Pietro

You must have the same version of MJ running on both machines.

Hi Jim.

I am running the test on a single machine. I start the server on my XP box and then use the same client on the same XP box to connect to the server. That's really strange!

I tried before on my W2K boxes in the office and everything went fine without any problem. I just cannot use it on the XP box at home.

Thanks

Try deleting your temporary Internet files.  IE/Tools/Internet Options.  It's an IE bug.  May fix it.

Thanks Jim.

Unfortunately this did not help. Please note. I also tried to connect to my XP box from an W2K station at the office, same problem. I really dont know. Maybe the library itself is the problem?

Regards

I created a new library, added only a few songs, but same problem showed up. Very strange.

Good night 42day.
