Automatic DSP Studio output change pop-up??
« on: May 01, 2011, 12:37:11 pm »

I believe I've had this happen with the last couple of builds.  I always use theater view.  Upon 1st playback of any audio (all mp3) I get the following:

"Playback could not be startet using format: 44100 Hz 64 bits per sample, 2 channels.
This format would work: 44100 Hz, 24 bits per sample, 2 channels.
Would you like your DSP Studio... output format settings changed automatically?
CHANGE or CANCEL"

Choosing either Change or Cancel in Theater View does nothing.  MC hangs.  Re-booted... same error.... hangs again.  Re-boot... go to starndard view....same error...choose change and audio plays.

Is this a new default setting that doesn't work with my setup?  or is it a bug.  I've never used or changed any setting in the DSP studio.   Please advise.

MC 16.0.75
Windows 7 - 64bit
SPDIF out to receiver
WASAPI output

A ha... Thanks.  Just a Theater View bug then.  MC hangs on either the CHANGE or CANCEL choice.

If somebody does want really to help me I can send a file with pictures as email.

Many thanks in advace

Stefan

What build of MC are you using?  16.0.111 is at the top of this board.

Could you describe what settings you have in DSP Studio > Output Format?

Auto-configuration only engages when the format selected in Output Format does not work.  So if you pick a format that does work in Output Format, you will circumvent auto-configuration.

Dear Matt could I get your email adress please.

So I would be able to send you the screenshots of MC14 or MC15 which works fine with the settings for AC3 and screenshots of MC16 which one doesent work anymore.

Thanks in advance

Get the latest build.  Set playback to "automatic" under MC's Options/Filetypes.

AC3 playback is working for me.

Could you try selecting 2 channels, 44.1 kHz, and 24-bit in DSP Studio > Output Format?  Perhaps your soundcard driver doesn't like 5.1 AC3 or something?

Thanks.

Dear Mat thanks for your advice. It is the same computer with the same sound card where MC 14,15 and 16 is installed. MC14 and MC15 are sending the AC3 files in the correct way to my reciever. The reciever is decoding them inoto 5.1 Dolby Digital without any problems.

MC16:
I set the output to your specification and it works. But then off course I get just a stereo sound. MC16 is still crashing when I try to send it as 5.1.

This is the main problem for me - I found the same situaiton with MC17.

Any ideas?

I think this is probably device or drive specific, because we're not hearing much of this report.

You might try different audio outputs:

You could also update the soundcard driver.
