Cannot get LAME to work with MC16
« on: January 03, 2012, 11:52:28 am »

i am a music lover and have been working with mp3s forever, but when it comes to codecs and behind the scenes work i am a noob.

recently i did a full system wipe and upon reinstall i upgraded to MC version 16 (been a user since version 8 or so i believe). problem is this time i cannot get the lame encoder to take. i have tried to dump the lame exe and dll in the plugins folder for MC but it doesn't allow me to do any cd ripping nor conversions to mp3 format.

i assure you i have spent well over 2 hours reading all different posts both in and out of the MC forums. any help here would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,

If I remember correctly, once I had registered MC16, I just selected MP3 as the enoder. MC16 then downloaded/installed it. Once this happens you can overwrite the lame.exe with the latest version if you want.

I don't believe you need to install anything w/MC16.  It should just encode using pre-installed plug-ins.

well, say i click a track in a flac format and choose convert format. i get a popup with a convert to APE by default and where i would previously change to mp3 encode, there are no other format options available to me. is there another path i should be following for that?

I had suspected some sort of solvent was involved. :-)
