Eric Satie's Gnossiene No.3 and Gymnopédie I piano compositions are going to affect you...very much.

I just enjoyed listening to Pascal Rogé's Satie: 3 Gymnopédies & Other Piano Works the other day.  I love this work.

Gymnopédies and Gnossienne are often used in various movie soundtracks.  The Painted Veil soundtrack by Alexandre Desplat is a good example.

Another nice soundtrack is The Hours, by Philip Glass.

Music composed by Alexandre Desplat calls forth what is sought by the person sensitive to what is beautiful.

Academy Award winning director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), also brought us Lust, Caution.  He chose Alexandre Desplat to compose the sound track, and chose Jackie Cheung (popularly known as one of the  "Four Heavenly Kings" in the Chinese music media) to sing the theme song in the film.
