Skinning question - field sizes
« on: January 30, 2012, 09:28:49 pm »

The skinning tutorial was well done and changes to colors, fonts and shapes is clear and well illustrated.  However, one thing I could not find is: can one change widths of fields (or ratios of sizes between adjacent fields)?  For instance, for one who uses the search field frequently, I would like to have a much larger search field at the expense of the player field to its left.  I work on screens of 1920 horizontal resolution or greater and have plenty of space for a larger search and smaller player field with no loss of information.  Thx.

It's not possible to do this, no.

May I politely suggest a very helpful but easy update to the GUI?  Perhaps a splitter bar could be placed between the the track display field and the search bar to allow adjustment of relative sizes of the two fields. The splitter could be constrained such that the user could only drag the splitter left a certain distance, maybe just enough to double or triple the width of the current search field.  This would expose much more information in the search field as one builds a query, among other advantages.
