Problem importing HD-DVD
« on: February 12, 2012, 01:07:12 pm »

I recently acquired a combo BD and HDDVD drive so I have started to rip my HDDVD discs and import them into MC.  What I am seeing is that MC creates about 30 movie entries in the library. They all end in .evo.  I have tried deleting and re-importing but get the same result.  I have used both anydvd and MC to rip. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

We have nice support for Blu-ray ripped in the format it's found on the disc (this is our recommended approach), but not for HD-DVD.

Since HD-DVD is not common any longer, this has not been a common request.

Are you open to the idea of muxing the HDDVD into a single MKV?

I converted all my HD-DVD to Blu-ray --> http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=65442.0

Here is an old thread on getting playback to work in MC for HD-DVD in the "old days" - some of it may help http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=55171.0 but I'd really suggest you convert to either MKV or Blu-ray.

If MKV will work then I can do that. I looked at the format briefly in the past but I couldn't see the advantages and it just seemed like more work.  Can you point me to a tutorial? Thanks.

Two more questions. When a movie finishes playing, I get a selection box on the screen which displays a list of streams (if I remember right. It is greek to me.) for 45 seconds or so. What is it for and can I change setup so it does not appear?

Also, how do I make the player stop and go back to the main screen when a movie finishes instead of immediately playing the next movie? Thanks.

This is Blu-ray title selection.  You can press stop before reaching the end to avoid this.  Or select the first choice to stop playback on the dialog if it does appear.

Play only a single movie.  From Theater View, this is automatic.  From Standard View, right-click 'Play' will always play only the selection.  The double-click play mode for Standard View is configurable in options.
