JRiver MIDI play with VST piano possible?

I have tried to play midi files with a VST plugin Bosendorfer 290 and also with linuxsampler.
Since I cannot configure audio output for both I guess that jriver is not supporting VST instruments but only VST sound processors.
Is this right?
P.S.:
The only partial solution was to install CoolSoft VirtualMIDISynth and set as default midi output "General MIdi".
The limitation is that in this case I can only use Sound Fonts.

Sorry, but VST instruments are not currently supported.
There might be VST sound processing hosts that can load VST instruments, but I'm not sure.
