Analyzing the results of some websites I am responsible for with Google Analytics, I was shocked to realise that 20% of the visitors browse the Internet with Javascript disabled. I suspected this value between 1 or 2%. Are there so many security freaks out there?

What numbers do other people have in compare and what might be other reasons for such high numbers? Thank you!

I tend to disable Javascript (along with other IE plug-ins) unless I really want to use it.

I shut it down mostly unless it's a site I know and then only turn on the minimum necessary stuff.
So in Firefox I'm using

Adblock plus
NoScript
BetterPrivacy (cleans out persistent flash cookies)
Ghostery (blocks cross site trackers, etc)

In other browsers I use what equivalents I can find.

Same as Bob here, and in addition I use Request Policy, Cookie Monster (reject al cookies by default) and an anonymizer proxy and Disconnect. Some overlap on a lot of them but oh well.

Hehe ... I had that nick waaay before that mouse got invented though. I'm not even sure how I came by it. I think it had to do with elephants somehow ...
