Tivo XL4 streaming question
« on: July 09, 2012, 02:26:39 am »

I recently bought a Tivo XL4.
I can see and stream my music library to my tivo using the Tivo plug-in however i don't see any of my videos.
i don't even no if i have set it up correctly.
i wentg to the tivo plug-in and i have it set to auto port selection and i named it media center
On my Tivo box, i can see and play my music in the "Music & Photos" Menu.
Where would the videos be? I just don't see them.
Any help would be greatful.

Thanks

MC doesn't support the "tivoback" protocol for doing video to TiVo. They added tivoback specifically for videos (it shows up under the now playing part of the TiVo tree, not "Music, photos and more".  It's also not really supported by TiVo but has been reverse engineered.

Your best bet is probably a windows version of pyTivo. You can specify the folder that you store the videos in on your PC and it will automatically transcode anything that the TiVo can't play natively (which is pretty limited, mpeg2 video and mpeg2 audio, AC3 audio too on some models).

Thanks for the response and suggestion. I already use the Tivo Desktop Plus.
So far, Tivo Desktop Plus has worked for all my videos just fine without a problem. I was just hoping for a user friendly front end experience that MC gives us.

Ciao
