Multiple outputs
« on: August 10, 2012, 01:26:50 am »

If using an external DAC is it possible to configure MC to output to USB for audio (stereo) and HDMI for video and multichannel? Would there be any benefit to this, such as better audio for music?

Thanks

The simplest way to achieve this is to create new Zones.  Audio and many other settings can be set differently for each Zone.  At the top of the left pane, right click on "Playing Now" and select "Add Zone".  Name the Zone appropriately, e.g. Music, then go to Tools > Options > Audio and set the output as you require.  Then do the same for a Zone called Video.

Sounds good.  So then do I need to select a zone, or does MC know that audio is zone 1 and video is zone 2 and output accordingly?

You need to select the Zone manually.  There are changes suggested for MC18 which may enable this to be done automatically.
