'Edit disc information' button
« on: August 13, 2012, 10:56:44 am »

Hi All:
Does anyone know how to make the  (CD)  "edit disc button" function. I've tried multiple combinations of L & R mouse keys but I never see a window open. Alt/shift/commands don't work either. Is there an other way to enable this button or an F key that will allow me to edit the CD information before ripping?
Thanxs;
Dick  ?

Thanks for posting.

When I put in an audio CD and click 'Edit CD Information' in the view header, I see this:

It is only available with an audio CD in the drive.

You can also in-place edit or use Action Window > Tag to edit the values.

If you're not seeing it, make sure you have Media Center 17.0.183 (or newer) installed.

Thanks.

Matt:  I promise the only time I've seen that window is when I tried to trick the software.  When I disconnect the ethernet cable, I see that window minus all the information --  no artist, album, genre, year, etc.
I'll try to find which version I have.

Matt:
I just checked media center online at 'check for updates'. The reply was "media center is up to date with 17.0.182", so how do I get the latest version @ .183?

I can't explain why you're not seeing it.

As a work-around, edit in-place in the list.  Just pick files (any number) and right-click 'Rename' and edit there.

Hello!

My Edit button is not working either.
I have .184 version.

It used to work, but I donīt know if it was in version 16 or 17.

You could try temporarily disabling firewalls and virus checkers to see if there's a problem when MC tries to connect to the CD database online.  Although in one case (Avast anti-virus), we had to uninstall it in order to make it work.  I could take a look at a log file if you send one to johnt at jriver dot com.

Also, if you're familiar with running "Fiddler" (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/version.asp), you could run it to see if there is a blocking internet call while the edit disc dialog is trying to show.

I just found out when itīs working and not.
It has nothing to do with antivirus or firewalls.

If you start Mediacenter I will find myself in Playing now.
Use Action window and click Rip disc
Now you are in rip disc where the Edit disc Information button is.
Now it will not work because my menu tree is showing Playing Now.

I have to either manually go to Drives & Devices and set focus on my drive where I have my CD or I can choose Details in the Rip Disc window below the Menu tree then it will automatically set focus on my CD drive.

Now I can use edit disc info button.

Nice detective work.

The program has a view that shows _all_ CD drives at once.  This is useful for ripping when you have multiple drives.  It looks like that view is getting shown, and it doesn't support editing disc information.

We'll get this fixed in a coming build.

For now, just click on the actual drive under Drives & Devices, then use the button.
