MC17 - Clearing or Deleting Libraries
« on: September 25, 2012, 10:01:13 am »

After experimenting with different configurations of music storage, I have finally decided to use an external HDD hooked directly to my laptop. However, I currently have two different libraries with multiple entries of every track that I own. One is the main library created when I installed MC17 the first time and the second is the library created from my NAS. I basically want to start over and ONLY include files from my external HDD.

1. How do I clear the main library without deleting the data?
2. How do I delete the DiskStation library without deleting the data?
3. How do I re-load the main library with only files from the HDD?

Thanks for any help here, I am obviously being very cautious before I make another mess of the library (or worse yet, accidentally delete data files).

You can easily remove undesired entries from MC.

For the MC Library you have loaded:

  1) disable auto-import from looking for files in the undesired locations.
  2) use Search to show the list of files you don't want in MC, select them, and hit Delete using the Remove from database-only mode.

In your case, it sounds like you can use [Filename (path)] as the search term.  Use the Search Wizard to help construct the query.
