Mog and MC18
« on: November 26, 2012, 02:38:48 am »

Hi All,
Sorry to revive a question from earlier in the year....
I have used MC for the last 3 generations and love it! I also use MOG to find new music - in Australia licencing has been an issue until recently.
In Connected Media, I can log onto Mog but it keeps requesting a Flash update.
I understand that Chromium browser engine is used (please correct me if I am wrong...).
I installed the applicable flash player Adobe Flash Player 11.5.502.110 suggested. Doesn't work.
Each login requests again to update flash - an error message that I understand is usually reported when no flash player detected.
Does the Chromium browser not support flash player?
I am sorry if this is an obvious query. Any help much appreciated.
Incidentally, I love MC18!! With JRemote, cannot be beaten for all round versatility.

MC can use Chromium or IE.  Search for "browser" in the window at the bottom of options.

Unfortunately, no joy.
In IE, Mog complains that it needs a modern browser (!)
In Chromium it doesn't seem like it can "see" the installed flash player.
Is there any reason why there isn't a web address bar at the top of the browser? If there was, I could use this to alter the Chromium settings.... (apparently!)

Has anyone succeeded in getting Mog to work through J River?

Hi Castius,
Great to hear :D
Could you please advise:
Which browser engine is enabled in J River?
How did you get flash player to work?
Did you have to do anything else to get it to work?
Are you using Mog from the US or via the (in Australia) mandatory Bigpond portal?
Any advice much appreciated!!

I know this won't help you.
Cromium engine
No errors about flash.
I didn't do anything.
I'm in the US

Sorry, But at least you know it can work.

Hi,

Fellow Australian using MOG - what I did to get it working in Windows 8 x64:

(1) Download flashplayer 11 and install (search for install_flashplayer11x32_mmsd_aih.exe)
(2) Select chromium as the default web browser engine in MC
(3) set-up connected media with http://mog.com/m
(4) can then login and play
(5) can use live://loopback to play through MC using dsp options (set windows default playback to something that doesn't play - I use playback through spidf and MC output with WASAPI)

That worked for me

cheers

It worked! - Sort of...!
Installing the 32bit flashplayer was the key.
Mog now generally works from within J River MC. Can be a bit unstable, though.
I found that any other music playing has to be stopped or Mog doesn't play.
I will still probably play Mog through the excellent Chrome web interface but nice to see it works with J River.
Many thanks Slothskin.

I was able to get this to work as well. No issues or special set up needed. I didn't have to download a separate Flash player. Otherwise the directions given Slothskin should work. Once Mog was playing I opened the loopback url. No issues and I was able to use all of the DSP processing. I'm in the US as well.
