Issue with Particles
« on: December 09, 2012, 02:33:03 pm »

I have moved to a new NAS with a different name. My media folder names are added using the network path. So I went from \\NAS1\Movies to \\NAS2\Movies.

After the switchover I simply went and changed the folder names from NAS1 to NAS2 and did a full import. All appeared to work fine but I just discovered that all my particles (~100 movie clips) are gone.

I did a database restore and I can see how the movies now contain the new path but the particles still point to the old.

Is there any way to fix this? I surely do not want to have to recreate them all :(

why not use the rename tool within MC to change Nas1 to NAS2.  MC then points to the new location and should keep playlists and particles. just watch the options in the dialog.

Unfortunatly there is a bug in MC - I've posted on this issue where "Rename, Move & Copy Files" with "Update database to point to new location (no file rename, move or copy)" selected does not work with Particles in Late OCT.... unfortunatly, I've yet to receive a response from JR.  I hope your thread helps elevate the issue as it drives me nuts each time I move stuff around!

Thx Struct, it is a good idea unfortunately as Jmone points out, particles didn't work.

You can manually change the particle path instead of recreating the particles. Hopefully JRiver will fix this soon. I've been holding off on creating very many particle for this reason.
