Please help.

I am using JRiver and to play the wav files. There is no problem to play the wav ripped by EAC and add the idtag by tagandname. The files are existing, but MC show no file to play. Even I did not activate IDtag when ripping.

Wav files ripped by dB is no problems played by MS media player.

It happen once I open the media file under file->open media->select->open.

If I select->open by MC with right click mouse under open media file function. It will play the media files.

Is there any trick within MC stop recognize the wav file or any specific format need to be followed when ripping by dB ?

I am using two separate systems, one for ripping, and one for playing. After ripping, I transfer the wav file by USB drive to may another system for playing purpose only.

Please please please.

Happy New Year.

Bit unclear to me what your problem is but might it be that you didn't enable the WAV tagging option in JRiver?

Just a note that with MC18, you configure input plugins here:
Options > Audio > Advanced > Configure input plugin-in...

WAV tagging is enabled by default, so these options shouldn't be needed often.

Thanks Matt.

I only can play the selected group wav files by using the right click with "play in Media Center", but not using the opening function under open media files.

Even I can play it no problems, but need to re arrange the tracks sequence back to the original CDs track order.

Any comment with thanks.

I don't have any answers as to why your tracks do not play when you use File > Open Media File.

Regarding track order when using right-click > Media Center > Play, these are not added to the Playing Now playlist in track order.  Probably they are in the order stored in the containing folder, but I have not verified this.  This is why you have to manually re-arrange the tracks according to your needs.

Thanks MrC your kind explanation.

I know it is a not a big issue, but irritating.

Can you share the smallest file you have that exhibits the issue?  I can try to reproduce the issue here. I'll delete the file afterwards.

Ok, got it.

This is a problem with command line argument parsing, and is not specific to wav files.

Matt - create an mp3 file named:

    a;b.mp3

and it will fail to play using File > Open Media File.  The semicolon is causing fits for the argument processor.

Got a solution from dBpoweramp mrspoonsi.

CD Ripper >> Options >> Filename character replacement.

By replace " ; " by " - "

And change the default character replacement " : " to " - " instead of " ; " too.

It is working fine now.

Thanks a million for MrC helping me solving this problems.

Happy listening.

Hi Matt,

Will " ; " be acceptable in next MC version as part of file name ?

Thanks.

I posted the bug in the MC 18.0.104 thread.  JRiver typically follows-up on bug reports such as this pretty quickly.

I'd hold off making any file name changes for a couple of days if you can.  There's nothing wrong with a semicolon in a file name (its Windows NTFS legal, as well as legal in other filesystems).

Recently, the argument processing in MC changed dramatically - this is just a missed case.

Thanks MrC. I always favor MC team doing the good job without delay.

Next build:
Fixed: The 'Open File' dialog was not working properly with filenames that contained semi-colons.

Sorry about the trouble.
