Equalizer

I've just installed MJ version 8.  I cannot get the equalizer to display in the mega-me mode.  I've read the user's guide. It says "Show EQ and Visualization" (located under View) must be checked.  I don't have such an option under View.  I get the visualizations but no equalizer.  Any help out there?
