JRiver Capabilities
« on: February 16, 2013, 07:08:44 pm »

I am not at all familiar wtih JRiver, but looking into implementing streaming of DSD (DFF) files in my home theatre environment.  I would be using a computer, installed in the home theatre rack, along with DAC capable of playing the files in native format.

Currently, I am streaming music through a LINN DS, which accesses music files on a server located in another room in the house.  I would like to continue to use this server if possible to implement the DSD playback as described above.  It has the capacity to store the amount of music that I will have.

So, the question is, will HQ Player, loaded on a PC located in the home theatre, retrieve the music over my home network from a NETGEAR ReadyNAS NVX (Linux running Fuppes) located somewhere else and play (push) them to the DAC through an USB input?

Thanks.

I don't know what HQ Player is, but where are you envisaging JRiver will fit into this?  I don't understand what question you are asking of JRiver.  In case it was a typo and you actually meant this:

"So, the question is, will J River, loaded on a PC located in the home theatre, retrieve the music over my home network from a NETGEAR ReadyNAS NVX (Linux running Fuppes) located somewhere else and play (push) them to the DAC through an USB input?"

...the answer is Yes.

My MC (running on a pc dedicated to my home system and living room tv) sees the other pc's on the network and grabs the music (mp3s) and shows them and plays them.
