Pictures & Video In The Music Library
« on: March 16, 2013, 08:39:18 am »

Hi, I'm sure this problem is something I'm doing wrong or not understanding properly but I'm not sure so any help would be welcome.

In my music library, as well as all my music, I also have all the pictures and videos that are in my library as shown below:

I have my import folders set up as follows:

\\MEDIA-SERVER\Media\Movies                                    (set to just import video)
\\MEDIA-SERVER\Media\Music                                       (set to just import audio)
\\MEDIA-SERVER\Media\Other                                       (set to just import video)
\\MEDIA-SERVER\Media\Standup Comedy & Music       (set to just import video)
\\MEDIA-SERVER\Media\TVShows                                  (set to just import video)
\\MEDIA-SERVER\Media\Misc                                         (set to just import video)
\\MEDIA-SERVER\Pictures                                              (set to just import images)

...so I can't understand why the pictures and videos are ending up in Audio. The problem is that if a view the Albums view under Audio then I get all my pictures mingled with music albums. If I look under Video I only see items from the video import folders and if I view Images then I only see items from the Pictures import folder.

Am I being daft here and missing something glaringly obvious.

In the screenshot, you're looking at folders, not files.  If you open Movies, does it show video?

You can set Auto Import to exclude a folder.

Why not browse by Artist or Album?  Why even use Files to browse?

Thanks for the reply Jim.

Yes, if I open movies under Audio then it does show the videos and if I select it the movie will play as if it was under the Video section.

Browse by Artist is fine but if I browse by Album then I get all the pictures from the pictures import folder mixed up with the albums. It's not causing me problems or anything as I use TheaterView most of the time the the views in that are filtered by file location anyway. It is just that if I do use the standard view then the Albums view is messed up for the stated reason.

I just don't understand why the files are there in the first place and I don't like not understanding things ;D

If you're seeing images with your audiounder Album, the settings must have been to import them.  You can "soft" delete them there.  Press delete and read carefully.  Do a few before you do very many.

I've already tried deleting them from the music library but they also disappear from the Images library as well and as soon as I do another import they are back again in both the Images & Music libraries.

Here is the music import screen.

which only has Audio ticked. Should I have something in the 'Apply these tags (optional)' section.

You shouldn't need to do anything special.
