I tried MM once for a few hours and hated it.  Please explain what "SmartSplit" does.

It's pretty simple, but no less useful for all that. You can select a whole blob of files and it will divide them as needed to fit over multiple CDs or DVD's, as either a means of making backups or for making a big bunch of compilation CDs. If I had a DVD burner, I'd use it immediately to backup my collection so that I don't have to be constantly sweating every time my hard drive makes a funny noise.

yes, backups are a bit of a pain.  I use CD-R.  I use the artist-album directory structure, so in my CD write package (Nero) I work my way down selecting groups of artist directories until I approach the max of the CD-R.  I have about 1250 files (not a lot by King standards), and it take about 8 CD's to backup.  So not optimizing the placement on the backups is not a big deal.  Then, as I add songs, I keep a list of them that I eventually burn to an additional backup CD.  I think the best way to go is to have multiple hard drives.

I Am Currently At 100,249 MP3s

MJ Still Running Fine.

Real Jukebox And Music Match Chokes Big Time At Around 10,000 Mp3s

Only Media Jukebox Can Handle This Many Files.

BackUps What Backups (Genre Top 40 Is Backed Up To CD-Rom, About 2,500 mp3s)

Now Playing: Aerosmith - Jaded.mp3

I had the same problem than you.And i can tell you that a second drive makes life easy
You do not care to try new softwares,to tweak.Your music is "on the other one".If you have to reformat.it is not a big problem. At the end you will have music on the drive C,for sure, cause you do not need 30gb for softwares,so you put music on it.Plan to buy a 120gb soon, onthe top of the 30 and 40gb i have
I had 15 000 songs with RealJukebox without big problem. If you do not give him hudge tasks to do,and just play songs

->King,

Just wondering, have you noticed any slowdown in MJ operations with your 100k mp3 database ?
In particular when opening the playlist tree or Media lib tree ?
I found MJ a bit slower now with my 5200 files. But maybe this is because I use a lot
of smartlists. Do you use any ?
Note that even slower MJ is much faster that MMatch !

have a nice day

c esr magique
It can be because you have a lot not in mp3 format
I had a lot of Windows format few months ago,and MJ was not fast as before
By the way,if you import 15 000 songs with RealJukebox, you click import and you have time to clean the house before listening to the first song....
