channels output
« on: May 25, 2013, 03:54:36 pm »

I want to set my channels output to 5 to 1 as I am using 5 speakers and a sound card capable of this. It keeps reverting to 2 to 1 and I need to change the input to 5 to 1 first. How do I do this?  Cooderhead

Are 5.1 channels selected in Windows Sound >Playback devices?

Thanks. I looked into it. In the control panel on my laptop(connected to stereo receiver) I can configure stereo only for speaker configuration.

My desktop, however, which also runs Windows 7 does allow a 5 to 1 configuration. Any way I can change this on my laptop?  Cooderhead

The cheapest way would be to add an external USB sound card. If you don't mind compression, you can get a sub $20 card with a spdif output. You can then use MC to output 5.0(?) or 5.1 Dolby digital.
