Doubt about dithering in MC 180.0.194
« on: June 16, 2013, 10:46:38 am »

Hi all,
I'm trying the latest version of JRiver mc and I noticed that in the "output format" is no longer present the selection of bitdepth, as well as in the "output mode settings" (I point that I use the ASIO driver).
Looking at the information of the audio path I see that the input is 64 bit and 32 bit output.
Now there are a couple of questions.
Dithering is applied in the transition from 64-bit to 32-bit?
Can I choose, if so, to remove it and use another vst for dithering (eg iZotope MBIT)?
And in this case in what location must be the plugin to be the last of the process? (at the top or bottom of the list?)

Thank you in advance

Dithering is now always performed when doing down conversion of bitdepth to an integer format.

There's no way to do this with a third-party DSP.  However, JRiver uses audiophile grade dithering so there's no need.
