The announcement for 8.0.231 says, "Added support for MJCP protocol."  What's that?

I was wondering the same thing.

MJ is obviously Media Jukebox.

So what does CP stand for?

Could P just mean Protocal, thus turning MJCP Protocol into Media Jukebox C Protocol Protocol? Kind of like an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Machine?

So then what does C stand for?

Hmmm....

Guess I better get back to work.

Media Jukebox Control Protocol

This allows a URL (MJCP://...) to:

Start MJ
Start playing a file in MJ
Start Download Manager
Start a download in Download Manager

When a browser can access a web page that has these URL's, clicking on a URL can do any of the above.  We're adding this because it will allow music services like Emusic to give the user more capabilities.

This isn't going to turn into another means of infecting millions of PC's with a virus (ala ActiveX) is it? Next Page

Or 'rice pilaf' and other redundant things of that nature. I think if somebody said something about an AT machine to me, my first thought would be that they were referring to a really old PC or the form factor of a motherboard...or that they were talking about some kind of anti-tank weapon.
