Illegal Operation Kernel 32
« on: March 15, 2002, 01:52:03 pm »

I used MJ during the 30 day trial period with no problems.  Today I laid down my money and haven't been able to use it since.  When I highlight a file in the content view window and right click it, I don't have the option "Add to Playlist" anymore.  If I click "Copy" I get an Illegal Operation pop up and my computer freezes.  I am also not able to drag a selected file from the content view window to a playlist.  My system info is listed below.

Have you tried backing up your license (do it an do it a lot - trust me) and uninstalling/reinstalling MJ? That would be my first suggestion.

Also, what version of MJ are you using?

Thanks Doof, my first thought was to uninstall and reinstall. Unfortunately, I have no floppy drive at the moment to make a back up.  My son is bringing me one when he comes to house-sit in a couple of weeks but I wanted to burn some music to take on vacation.

I'm using 7.2

Try downloading the latest beta of version 8 here.  Thread called "MJ 8... available".  It has some bug fixes in the payment code that may cure your problem.  It works with a 7.x license.

I just kept playing with it and my computer and it suddenly started working.  I don't know what I did that made it work but I think I'm going to stick with this version, unless it quits working again.  Thanks

You don't have to back your license up to a floppy disk. You can back it up onto your harddrive and then later on copy it to floppy, CD, tape, etc.

Sometimes the obvious escapes me Doof.  Thanks, it's now backed up on my hard drive, until I get a new floppy drive.
