As someone who listens to music essentially every waking moment, Media Center and its sophisticated capabilities, including DLNA connectivity, have been a great addition to my home. 

I'm looking to expand the areas of my home that can benefit from this great technology...think basement.  Ideally I'm looking for a device to connect wirelessly or via ether net to the network, compatible with FLAC, convert to analog, analog out to existing amp/speaker system.   From what I've seen the best solution appears to be AndrewFG's White Bear with Logitech products......   

I have a couple questions:
1.  Just learned that Squeezebox has been phased out.  Does White Bear work with the successor products?
2.  Are there other DLNA renderers that work with White Bear....  again, I'm interested mostly for Lossless music (no mp3 please).
3.  Are there DLNA renderers for this purpose that I don't know about that anyone would recommend?

Well currently there are no successor products. Unfortunately they orphaned us...

Just so you know: Logitech introduced a thing called the Ulimate Ears Smart Radio http://ue.logitech.com/en-us/smart-radios which uses the same hardware as the phased out Squeezebox Radio, but it primarily pulls content from cloud streaming sources; you can set it up also to pull from a local server, but the server software is Logitech proprietary (no UPnP or DLNA) and closed so it cannot support plug-ins such as Whitebear...

Updating this old thread in case someone comes upon it.  The UE Radio supports switching to use LMS software so these devices are compatible with existing Squeeze* devices.

Correct.

Out of the box, the UE Radio supports connecting to a stripped down "mini" version of LMS, which lacks the command plug-in (called CLI) that Whitebear would use to talk to it.

However, as MrC says, the UE Radio allows itself to be upgraded so that it can connect to the "full" LMS. And in that case, Whitebear can indeed talk to it. WARNING: take care though because I hear that the upgrade from "mini" LMS to "full" LMS is apparently not reversible.
