MC as music only player, for the nubiz.
« on: October 22, 2013, 07:31:43 am »

Hi, I've been plugging MC as a 100% FLAC music library player to friends and forum dwellers on PFM for sometime now.
I've noticed that a lot of new users come back feeling a little dazed and confused by all the setting and options within 19.
For example the R128, DSP etc and the need to select certain things like Memory Playback.

Would it be prudent to have a few 'Default' settings within 'options' like:

Option 1. WASAPI on, DSP off, R128 off, Memory play on.  This could be called: To use as 'Digital Music Server' Fixed output to DAC.
Option 2 ASIO ...
Option 3......

This would certainly help the generation who are not 100% aware of all the terminology of computers and sofwares..

AFAIK, those people don't use Windows.

BTW, the only "PFM" I know is the 1970s prog rock group from Italy...

Direct sound and the default audio device seems a reasonable set of defaults.  A new user might start there and try other options as he/she learns more.
