Processor Utilization at 99-100%
« on: March 08, 2002, 08:35:05 am »

i have noticed on the last few builds that when the system is left alone for an hour or so the following happens.
After coming back to it it all works okay but the priocessor utilization has gone to 100%.
Everything still works fine. I then shut down MJ and the processor is still at 100%

If i then look at the processes list in Win2000 MJ.exe is still there and using 100% utilzation.
If i kill the task and then start again all is okay until the next time i leave it.

Any ideas
Anyone else noticed this.

When is it using the CPU? (while playing or always)

Also, does having DSP, EQ, or visualizations running vs. not running make any difference?

Do you use any external DSP's?

Thanks.

Normally playback takes about 1% 2% CPU

MJ is running at 100% when not being used. Only seems to happen when its sat idle for 45mins or more. This continues even after it is closed down.

I do not use Viz DSP or any other externals. Just basic playback.

So, just to make sure I understand, if you start MJ, don't play anything, minimize it, and return 45 minutes later it's eating the CPU?

And does disabling mega-me skinning make any difference?

Thanks.

Okay thisis it. It doesnt happen all the time - maybe once or twice a day.

I start MJ

PLay a few tracks for an hour or so.
Tracks finish but ive wandered off by the time theve finished.
MJ still main window on PC - not minimized
Come back an hour or so later and play a few more tracks
Notice on task manager that processor is 100%
Look at task list and MJ is 100% - still working okay though
Closedown MJ
Processor still 100%
look at process list
MJ.exe is still there in list and at 100% but no longer in running applications
Kill task from processes - processor drops to 0%
start MJ and off we go again.

The next time this happens i'll try to get some mor einfo before i kill it.
