Tag Assignment from Expression
« on: November 23, 2013, 12:10:45 pm »

I did a quick search and didn't find anything, but I know I've read this on here before, so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.  I have an expression that calculates the value that I want to use for a particular field.  I can add the expression as a new column and it shows me what I want, but I want the output of that to be set to the Series tag.  I have a bunch of files I want to do this with, so it needs to be automated in some fashion.

Secondly - I'd like to do this as import continually.  Is that possible?  Anytime a file is auto-imported from a particular directory, I want to run this expression and set the Series value.  Thanks!

Read Field Assignment.

Yes, set an Auto-Import rule.  Go to Tools > Import > Configure Auto-Import... > Edit and under Apply these tags (optional) select Add and add the appropriate field and expression.

I read that entry on the wiki, but it took me a moment to 'get it.'  I wasn't thinking I could just take my expression and enter it for multiple files in the Tag window on the left.

Ah, I knew that was in there somewhere... had been too long since I updated my tagging rules and I kept looking in the Tasks window.

Thanks!!
