Playing via an external HD - why some and not others?
« on: January 13, 2014, 10:07:41 am »

I've loaded all my music files in an external drive marked E:

The last batch of CD's were downloaded - about 10. Copied to external HD. No problem.

These 10 or so were the only music files on my laptop HD C: So I sent them to my recycle bin.

When I opened MC - these 10 were gone! (But when I go to check to see if they were in E: via Computer on my HD, they were there.)

When I returned them back from the recycle bin, they were back in MC!

What's happening?

apparently mc sees the files on C:.. when you go to options>library & folders>configure autoimport, check if E: is there, and takeaway the places where mc should not check. also check the settings underneath, like fix broken links- yes (protect missing drives) .. which is wise when using an external disk.

OK. Great. I've done it.

I'll check a little later if that worked. I'm sure it did.

Now I actually have to delete them in C:  It now lists the two copies!

yes.. when you have them two times you will see them two times.. when you delete those from C: and also take C from autoimport (if that is what you want) then you get what you want..
