Installed SOtM card, jriver doesn't recognize a card?
« on: February 05, 2014, 11:40:47 pm »

Hi,

I just installed a SOtM TX USBexp, installed the latest driver. All seems well, the device is recognized in device manager but I can't or at least have yet been able to get jriver to recognize it.

I've gone options>Audio>output mode setting and there is nothing there.

I've tried output mode and changing the mode then back into settings but nothing.

What am I missing here?

Regards

Looks like you have but just in case, you have covered off the obvious ports of call, haven't you?

Whilst installing the DACs usb driver , it stalls with a windows notice "Please connect the device you want to install and turn it on"

So at this point I can't even enter windows sounds playback devices.

I've tried another USB cable just in case but no difference. I'm not sure what the next port of call is. SOtM support is  next to useless so maybe the DAC manufacturer?

By latest driver from before, you were referring to this I take it?

Note the part about removing the old driver. Relevant?

Page 7 of the manual details various jumper settings:

Are these all as they should be?

Last ditch attempt at help from SOtM?

Yes, the latest driver is installed. It is recognized in device manager. Everything is as it should be on the audiocard.

I've used the molex to connect power to the device. This same molex had no issues with the Xonar stx the USBexp replaced.

I believe the issue lies with the DAC or it's software at this point.

I tried connecting to other usb connections with the same result, the USB being unable to find the DAC.

Oops .. sorry, missed that bit. What DAC are you dealing with?

Also, what does Audio Device in Playback Options show?

Have a look at what MC shows for me with a Dragonfly USB DAC plugged in, Sound via Windows Control Panel and Audio Path - all sweet. It might help if we could see what you see.

I should also add that I do recognise if the DAC can't be found by the OS at all then (I'll state the obvious), you're stymied [I was thinking of another word but I thought I'd be polite ..  :D ].

The device shows both in program features and device manager. No conflicts, no issues there.
I've tried a couple of USB cables just in case although they all work connecting mobile or backup devices. No change.
So I pulled the card, checked all the jumpers are set set. Reconnected and made sure the card was firmly seated and the molex well fitted/connected. Again, no change.

Lastly I went through both the USB2 and USB3 ports on the motherboard and the Perreaux software/DAC/amp just won't connect and finish installation.

I can however get a connection during setup (both mobo and using the on setting only on the SOtM card). When this connection is available during the install, I can enter playback devices and alter the properties.
The installation still fails yet the 80i now remains as the playback device and will output sound.

Strangely enough, the standard USB ports will remain connected without extra voltage but the TX USB - Perreaux combo requires the 5V on? Does this sound correct?
I guess the end result of music being played suggests success but the failure of the software to install correctly irks me.

To be clear, are you saying that this installations fails?

If that's the case, I reckon you should give the good ol' boys down in Dunedin a call.

Yep - that's a tick.

but the failure of the software to install correctly irks me.
Agreed.

No idea. What do the Koreans say?
The manual doesn't give much away and neither does the SOtM site:
