Looking for Thunder and Lightning
« on: January 12, 2014, 02:24:46 am »

I'm in need of some program material that give me some rather intense thunder and lightning effects.  Can be 'real' or simulated.

Suggestions for either a standard-def DVD or PC (windows) program that simulated thunder/lightning would be nice...

Thanks!

Very, very frightening.

Is it for a dog?
You could try Riders On The Storm or The Thunder Rolls.

If you don't care if they're watermarked, you could just search stock footage sites for appropriate clips.  Shutterstock, for example.

It sounds like you need video, but if audio would work as a partial solution, I can recommend this album http://www.emusic.com/album/thunderstorm/relax-with-nature-vol-8/10825934/

It's a fairly high quality recording of about an hour's worth of a thunder storm.  I've listened to quite a few storm recordings over the years, and this one is my favorite (I know that makes me sound like the life of the party  ::) ).

In addition to occasional pleasure listening, I use it to test speaker setups.  Sometimes when you're tweaking for a long time you've made so many subtle variations you can kind of forget what music is "supposed to" sound like, but rain always sounds like rain  ;D
