I use MC19 to transcode FLAC over to my Android phone which - usually - works very well (the slow device detection seems to have been solved, the phone is usually detected within a minute or so).  All my music is FLAC on the PC and I set MC to transcode it to Ogg for me and copy it across to the 'Music' folder on the phone.

Pretty much every time, one or two of the tracks will have no metadata - no Artist, Track Name, Track No., Year etc which means it's not picked up properly by the phone.  The only means of sorting it is to manually copy the offending file back to the PC, edit it using MP3Tag and then copy it back to the phone.  This is all a bit of a faff and negates the benefits of the automation MC offers.

Is there a reason why it's missing the metadata?  It's normally on tracks early in the album (mostly 01 or 02, the highest I've seen was track 05 once - but it's normally one of the first few that are missed).

I can't actually remember the last time I synced to my phone (because JRemote), so I'm no help.  I've never noticed it, though.

I sync and transcode to an android phone, but am never missing any metadata, so I'm not sure what's different between our situations.  I transcode to MP3 rather than ogg, but I'm not sure why that would make any difference.

Perhaps the Ogg muxer is buggy?

Ogg uses the same tags as FLAC, though, so we'd have certainly noticed some generalized problem with tagging there.

I'll see if I can update the Ogg side of things.   It's strange though as most of the time it works OK but on a few albums it's only a couple of tracks missing it.

I'll test Ogg transcoding and tags.
If it only happens on a few tracks, it seems weird. Maybe you can share a file on which it doesn't work? Maybe something in its tags is blocking it. (Ideally run "Update Tags (From Library)" on it first to  ensure all the data is written into the original file)

In a perfect world, this wouldn't matter.

If the information is in MC's Library, why wouldn't it write the tags when creating a new file out of whole cloth?

That was just for sharing a file which has issues, since if the problematic value is only in the MC DB, he can share the file all he wants and I wouldn't get to see the issue.

I did some tests on a few select files, and the metadata seems to show up fine.
If its really only on a few tracks where it fails, getting one of those tracks where it fails would be really useful.

I didn't think it would matter (and had never noticed anything at all last I used it seriously), but figured you'd have ways to know, so I was surprised.

I couldn't solve the issue so haven't been syncing directly to the phone, rather to the PC's file system and then copying across to the phone (PITA). 

If I get a chance I'll sync to the phone directly & try to identify some dodgy files

There area few other threads in the Android section relating to sync issues.  I know Adam found some issues but I don't think he ever got to root cause
